Cefn J to Kenfig Hill - Section is open and accessible. THe signalbox at the site of Cefn Junction remains but is locked and the quarter mile of trackbed between Bedford Road and the signalbox could be driven. The gate on the western side of the level crossing remains, along with the crossing keeper's house, now a private residence. The trackbed between the level crossing and the site of Kenfig Hill station has been turned into a footpath / cycleway and is partly tarmacced. |
| The section from Kenfig Hill to Pyle is also walkable as far
as the mainline railway, passing over two bridges over streams, these
had dried up in 2005 due to a hot dry summer. The cutting in
Kenfig has been infilled and bridges over the railway demolished.
However, the route can be walked as a narrow park. To the south
of Kenfig, the trackbed is part of a nature reserve as far as the
mainline and is easily accessible. |
|
| Access to the trackbed is very fragmentary in the Pyle
area. A short section of the western spur can be viewed from the
North Cornelly link road bridge, and a short section of the cutting to
the south of Cornelly can be accessed with difficulty and two bridges
over this cutting remain. |
|
| Approximately a mile of trackbed to the north of Nottage
remains, although used as a farm access track. Nottage tunnel has
been backfilled and nothing remains of the trackbed between Nottage and
Porthcawl. |
