The Senghenydd - Abertridwr section is open and accessible, the site of the Windsor colliery having been landscaped. The trackbed is also used as the access road to some playing fields. The site of Senghenydd station is now a housing estate, and all remains north of Station Terrace bridge have gone. This bridge has been infilled, but the parapetts remain. Nearer Abertridwr, the Church road bridge has ben removed to widen the road. |
| The site of Abertridwr station has been relandscaped and is used as a small park. There is a coal wagon cemented into the wall as a reminder of the heritage of the line. To the south of the station site, Aberfawr road bridge is intact. Between there and Station Terrace at Penyrheol, the trackbed has been converted into a walking rtrail. All bridges on this section are intact. The Station Terrace bridge at Penyrheol has been removed | |
| The trackbend towards Aber Branch junction has been absorbed into an industrial complex, under the A468 bypass, and the portion nearest Aber junction has reacently been converted into housing. | |
| The Beddau Loop was only abandoned in 1984, and the two bridges remain. The St Cenydd road bridge has been infilled, and the Nantgarw road bridge is probably likely to be infilled during construction of a new housing estate on the site of the branch and the former Energlyn colliery site. The section between Beddau Loop Jn and Watford road has been infilled and built upon. The spur to West Branch Junction forms a cycleway as far as Lon Y Llyn road, by the hospital. The section between there and West Branch junction is heavily overgrown. | |
| The Penrhos J to Taff's Well portion of the route has been turned into a cylceway/bridleway. Aside from the Barry Rly's Penrhos viaduct which was demolished in the 1930's, all bridges remain. Some of the old signs and a signal have also been left. THe only portion that has been lost is the junction with the TVR mainlin to the south of Taff's Well station.
