Route: Porth, Porth Junction, Ynyshir, Pontygwaith, Tylerstown, Ferndale,
Maerdy, Maerdy Colliery. Since the line was only removed in 1987,

| Construction work has just started (May 2005) on converting the section of trackbed from Tynewydd Square to Margaret Street, Pontygwaith into a relief road for Ynyshir. Construction work will see the removal of the remains of Ynyshir station, the bridges at Llanwonno road and Station street, and probably the replacement of the Rhonnda Fach bridge at Ynyshir and the Ynyshir road bridge. |
